Vancouver Airport Hotel
We'll be landing at Vancouver Airport about 1 a.m. on June 18 and leaving on a cruise that evening, returning on June 25 with a flight out on June 26. We'll need a hotel room for a few hours sleep before heading to our cruise ship and a place to sleep the night we return. The lone hotel on the airport property is a tad pricey for our budget. Any suggestions in the US$150 double range that will be easy to reach at 1 or 2 a.m.?

My advice would be to call the hotel at the airport (The Fairmont) and see if you can get a better rate - it's worked for me before. I have stayed there many times - the hotel is great, and right in the U.S. terminal, so if you can afford it it would be by far the best option to stay there. You will save hours.

I joined the Fairmont President's Club and found they occasionally offer specials to their members. I stayed at the Fairmont Vancouver Airport and it was marvelous. As I recall the rate was about $150 US. In terms of quality and comfort, it is a top drawer hotel. The spa is very nice and the restaurant is excellent.

There are many off site airport hotels with 24 hour shuttles, that offer stopover rates, when you are staying just one night after coming in from a flight. A few that come to mind are the Four Points Sheraton, the Holiday Inn, Delta Vancouver Airport, Sandman Hotel Vancouver Airport, Holiday Inn Express, Summer rates will be in effect, so they will be more than now for example. You could also check if they have a pre cruise package that will include the transfer in the morning to the pier.
The Fairmont is fabulous though if you can swing it.

Try the Holiday Express Inn, which is 5 minutes from the airport. I think the Vancouver Airport authority has recently opened up rooms in the airport, for just the thing you are taking about, short stay sleeps. Check it out with your travel agent.
