We are traveling to Montreal for a romantic week. I want to stay in the heart of Old Montreal, and have great views, food and atmosphere. Could you suggest the best place to stay?

Hands down: Auberge Pierre du Calvet AD 1725. 405 Rue Bonsecours...(514)282-1725. To see a few Old Montreal Hotels check out the following: http://vieux.montreal.qc.ca/heberg/eng/fen_heba.htm Good Luck.

Auberge du Vieux-Port is the place to be, with river view rooms, Jacuzzi tubs, roof-top terrace and an excellent fine french restaurant. Ask for their romantic packages.

I am not sure but my guess now: the rate would be around $225.00-$250.00 CDN. Call and inquire...Good Luck.

Where is the Auberge du Vieux-Port in relation to the Fairmont QE? Is it a better location?

Auberge du Vieux-Port is in the Old City, right across from the Old Port Esplanade.

The Fairmont QE is in the downtown core (business district).

The Old City is nicer because of its "old world" charm. Also lots restaurants, shops and activities. The Auberge du Vieux-Port is a very nice smaller hotel.

The Queen E. is a also a nice hotel, but it is big & convention-type. Montreal's downtown area is nice and offers a lot of services, but it is not as picturesque as the Old City.
