Hotel or B&B in Montreal?

For our 25th anniversary, I'd like to book a modest hotel or nice B&B in Montreal in September. Probably for 2 nights. I'd like to be in or near the old town, but would consider other locations. Price limit would be about $225 per night US dollars.

In June friends spent a wonderful anniversary in Montreal and loved the Hotel Bonaparte. It's more like an inn with only 30 rooms, some of which overlook the gardens at Notre Dame. ~bonaparte.ca~
It might be just what you're looking for.

My boyfriend and I spent a romantic weekend in Montreal at the Hotel Nelligan, a chic little boutique hotel in old Montreal. It is very well situated and stylish, well appointed with great service. We enjoyed it so much!

I got a great deal on luxury link for the Hotel XIX Siecle including breakfast. Worth checking out. I paid around $120 a night and had fresh flowers and champagne in the room when I arrived. Pretty posh.

I just got back from there for my 20th anniversary. Check out www.aubergeduvieuxport.com FIND THE LINK TO THE LOFT APARTMENTS THEY OFFER ALSO. The beauty of it is you have to walk through the area that so many come to see, in order to get any where you are headed. IT IS IN THE PERFECT LOCATION. I believe it is considered one of the 20 best hotels in the world. It dances right around your price range. My family ooo'ed and ahhh'ed They loved it and it was worth every penny.

From Fodors 2005:

Romantic Retreats

Auberge du Vieux-Port, Montreal, Canada

Step back in time as you nestle into your room with wood-beamed ceilings, century-old brick walls, and handsome casement windows overlooking rue St. Paul or the Vieux-Port.
