Am I going to freeze my tootsies off in Vancouver?

We will be in Van mid May. Is it still too cool for sandals there? How heavy a jacket will I need at night? I'm from New Mexico so I'm used to nice dry warm weather.
We have a reservation at "C" for dinner. Does anybody know how dressy it is? Thanks! Looking forward to seeing BC.

I was just down at the beach. At 8:30 PM I saw 4 young men walking around in swimshorts.

It may or may not be that warm when you arrive. Dress for rain - that's always a possibility. But dress for the possibility of warm, sunny weather too.

I have never heard of "C" but there are very few places that are seriously dressy in Vancouver.

.....I've been wearing sandals for a
month now and certainly don't plan on
getting out snowboots anytime in the
near future!

The last responder said it all - come
prepared for rain or showers but not
cold weather. A light jacket or sweater
will be handy if not downright necessary.

The dress code (as such) for C's is
dressy casual - what I refer to as
Ralph-ish.<g> C is on the water so
it will be a little more chilly than
Santa Fe!

"C" is a wonderful restaurant - great choice. Vancouver is casual but I would amp it up a notch or two for C.

And folks have been swimming off Bowen Island for the past couple of weeks or so (although you won't catch me in the ocean until July).

Cheers,
Linda

My husband heard it was a record warm day for May 1 - it reached 24 degrees C (75 deg F).

But now it's raining and probably will for the next few days. That's just how it goes.

WillTravel, hop a ferry to Bowen (if they're not on strike!) - it's warm and sunny and those darn people are down at the beach again!
Cheers,
Linda

Thanks all! I know I'm packing too much, but I can't seem to help myself

I'm just hoping for sunshine and no rain!

abqdeb, don't forget the golden rule. You can always buy something in Vancouver if you didn't pack it!

LOL Willtravel!

Don't worry, I plan to sink some money into the Canadian economy as well.

Thanks for the help. We leave Saturday for San Francisco and then cruise to Van, but will keep checking the forecast till we go.
