Affordable Airport Shuttle from Pearson International

to High Park area?

I will be arriving on a tuesday into Pearson International Airport and will be dog tired, I am sure.

I will be staying with a friend right across from High park....does anyone have a recommendation for a shuttle service that costs less than 20 dollars perhaps?

If your friend is located very near to the High Park subway station, definitely the cheapest and probably the fastest way to get there is to take TTC (Toronto Transit) bus 192 to Kipling subway station and from there take the subway to the High Park subway stop. See the link below:

Thank you for the link, I really appreciate it.

Do you think a cab would be very expensive?

Take the TTC 192 bus from the airport to the Kipling station on the Bloor-Danforth subway. Then take the subway to with Runnymede or High Park station, depending on where your friend lives. It will cost much less than $20 and the service is frequent and reliable.

Here's the TTC site:

The issue is that I think I will have been up for more than 24 hours at that point, and I would like something as stress free as possible. Also, since my friend says it will be very hot, the idea of being sweaty and tired leaves me more than a bit frazzled. I was wondering if there are cheap or shuttles under 20 dollars for door to door service the way we have in the city.

Ok I am not sure of the exact taxi fare BUT it would be more than $20 - probably closer to $40.
I live West of High Park, on a fairly direct route from the airport and a taxi from the airports costs me about $30 (Canadian).

Taxi fares from Pearson are by zone. If you know your destination you can look it up. Depending on which side of the park you are going the fare is anywhere from $30 to $38. This for a taxi. There are also limos. These are a few dollars more and offer a marginally nicer car.

To see for yourself go to www.gtaa.com and go to "ground transportation". The txi and limo fare maps are east or west. You want "east" because High Park is east of the airport even though it is west end in Toronto terms.

The TTC option is good if you don't have too much stuff (can do stairs with it) and know how to find your friend's place.

I agree you'd better just bring more money.

How about your friend rents a car for a couple of days and picks you up?

Ok, so I checked out the Pearson International Airport page and under shuttles there were no listings.

so, am I to assume that things are slightly a bit different there and that there is no such thing as an airport shuttle?

My friend informed me that I should catch a bus to the underground station, and then take the underground to High Park area. She did warn me that to catch a taxi from there would be very expensive. My only concern is that I will be super tired, and my bag is not the smallest and I am not sure if I want to be lugging it around on a bus.

Also, I have a problem of having to return to the airport early in the sunday morning around 6am...so I am wondering if I will have to leave at 5am and try and use public transportation if it is open at that time....

ayeeeee!!

I checked the GTAA website, and perhaps there is a problem in terminology. What the GTAA calls shuttles are busses to out-of town locations. There is a regular shuttle bus from the airport to downtown. http://www.torontoairportexpress.com/

However, as you are not going to downtown Toronto the airport express bus is of no use to you.

To get to the High Park area, You therefore have three choices as has been previously stated:

1. GTAA taxi: Flat fare of $34.

2. GTAA limo: Flat fare of $37.

3. TTC Airport Rocket and subway: $2.75. A weekly pass, which you can use for the rest of your visit is $30.

It's your choice.

Laverendrye, is there a place at the airport that sells TTC passes? I don't recall seeing one but have never looked either.

The subway gets started late on Sunday mornings (9ish) but the Bloor 300A night bus goes to the airport. Assuming your friend is near Bloor your return is very easy. Check www.ttc.ca for details.
