Just returned from PD on 7/6/05. We stayed on four mile beach. The luxury apartments were called Beaches. It was a 4-5minute walk to town, The people were very nice and accommodating. We had two bedroom apt. e-amail is [email protected].
If you have other questions about PD barrier reef or sidney will be happy to assist.

Amrdia, Thankyou for the quick response. Is the accomodation as nice as the pictures and is it on the beach? Is there another hotel in the area which you saw and liked? I appreciate your time. Jim

Hi Sabbin
if you are looking for a full service hotel, there is the Sheraton Mirage, right on the beach. It is a 5-star-hotel, so a bit more expensive.

Jim
It is right across the street. It is a quiet street. The mirage is way out of town. We stay at Westin hotels and 5 stars and this place lives up to all pictures and expectations.
Try the Coral Sea Villas, Mawbry by the Sea. The Pennisula. All of these looked good.
If you need more info let me know.
Phil

We stayed at the Peninsula Boutique Hotel and it was a highlight of our trip. Right across a quiet street from the beach. We could walk out of our room and be on the beach in 3 minutes. Please check out their website and do a search on this Fodors site for user comments.

Just returned from Port Douglas and was very disappointed in our experience at Sheraton Mirage. The Pool is nice and the hotel is OK - but very overpriced for what it is Wish I had read this posting before booking hotel - will look into these places for our next visit
Thanks
