The gay game started yesterday with some high heel drag queen performing at the openning ceremony. They say they have participants from 77 countries!

Just got back from Sydney. Gay Game was a success!! 13,000 particants and thirty thousand spectators at the opening ceremony. It was reported in the local papers that Gay Games brought in A$100 millions to the state of NSW. Some Australians told me that it brought in more money than Olympic Games a few years back. I inclined to believe the latter. I have to get a replacement Visa card when I got home as the magnetic strip on the old one worn off due to over usage in Sydney.

Margo, is your tennis club at Cintra Park? I got through to third round there but had to retire due to fatigue. Yes, party too hard the night before. I blame myself. By the way, I had lunch at Tetsuya's, the food was just divine. It turned out the waiter who attended us was gay too, so me and my gang had a fun time there.

Thank you Sydney for being such a good host, I had a lovely time and I shall remember it for a very long time .

Butch

Glad you enjoyed Sydney and the games. I agree about Tetsuya's, always a wonderful experience. Sorry, my question is not about travel and I shouldn't probably ask on this board but you mentioned that your waiter was also gay which led to you and your friends having a good time. Are you treated poorly by straight waiters, I am horrified if this is still a general thing, especially in Sydney!
Lynn, I would enjoy my visit to Tetsuya's even if I was attended by straight waiting staff but it was a bonus to be attended by gay waiter as we could share some in-jokes and gay banters.

I didn't experience any discrimation in Sydney because of my sexuality but in Canberra, it is another story.

Butch

I'm so glad you had a great time in Sydney. Yes, I play at Cintra Park normally, (whatever normal is) and was going to go down and see some of the matches, as I as off work. But, by the time I got my act together, you'd all finished.

A meal at Tetsuya's is always a great experience.

Come back and visit again.
Margo, I won't be in my Dolce & Gabana, but I'll wear my tennis shoes with spikes. I could hardly stand on those sandy courts at Cintra Park, let alone chasing after balls gt

Catch up with you later.

Jeez, Butch
What sort of surface do you usually play on? Where are you from?
Those synthetic grass courts are kinder to knees than hardcourts (although I've still managed to tear a cartilege on them)
