Brisbane area help please
We will be visiting our 20 year old daughter in June (who is currently studying in Townsville- James Cook Univ. - & doesn't want to leave!)and are looking forward to our first trip to Australia. We will have four nights in Brisbane area- I would love to know your opinion of Hyatt Regency- Hope Island, or Sheraton Mirage or Couran Cove as a place to spend these days at the end of our trip. Many thanks!

Couran Cove is quite new and on South Stradbroke Island - you cannot get anywhere from there with any ease. Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove is a low rise nice quiet place to stay right on the river within walking distance to the little village of Sanctuary Cove ( I note you say Hope Island but I presume its the one at Sanctuary Cove as those places are beside each other. From there you can get a bus to anywhere on the Gold Coast and you would like the village atmosphere. The hotel is right on the Golf Course. Sheraton Mirage is a nice hotel on the "Spit" opposite the marina and in front of a beach. Has water features all through the hotel and the food is great at the Sunday buffet. So depending on what you want to do when you are there then - if you want to see a lot of the area then Sheraton Mirage, next Hyatt Regency but I would discount Couran Cove altogether as there are many other lovely places to stay in and around the area which are not isolated.

The Marriot is very nice and within easy distance of bus, beach and all the shops etc on the Gold Coast. Has a nice Benihana restaurant and its a very open hotel and airey. Tangalooma is nothing like that and Tangalooma is again on an island which has nothing else much there so if you want to do nothing but laze around in the sun and play with dophines then Tangalooma is for you - if you want to see other things then it is not for you. It would not be practical to say get on a boat and go into the City for the day and go back.
