Accomodation South of Hobart

We are planning a trip to tassie in Feb 2010. Could somone suggest places where i can stay as a base to visit bruny island and Huonville. A friend of mine suggested Coningham cottages as being lovely, but was all booked out.

Try www.wotif.com.au and look for accommodation around the following:
Margate, Snug, Kettering, Woodbridge, Oyster Cove, Birch's Bay, Middleton
There is a little cottage in Margate called Summer Cottage owned by an English couple, Anne and Geoff. Let me know if you cannot find anything on Wotif and I will try and get their phone number for you and you can try them as its on their property in front of their little dam and very quiet and pretty.

PPS: I have just tried to check some of the listings but not always does the specific accommodation come up under the area. You are better to go into the "Huon Area" and search that way other than putting in the areas that I have listed above and doing a search on them. Mind you there are a lot that are not on Wotif but you would probably get better rates from that method.

We are two of us and want the acco for 1 to 2 nights. Saw some good acco at Blackman Bay, would that be a convenient base to go to Huon and Bruny Island?

If you are looking at Blackman's Bay you might as well check out Hobart because its further away than it looks access wise. What kind of accommodation are you looking for? If you are going to do Bruny Island AND the Huon Valley you will need 3 nights really because both are full days.

What's happened to our colleague LizF?

She has a B&B at Margate - that's be a good base for your touring - but I can't remember the name.

Help, anyone?

Thanks all... Booked Walton house at Huonville and a Tulendena Villa at Kettering... The pictures looked nice on the net

We enjoyed Pelican Bay B&B. It's in Coles Bay, near the entrance to Freycinet.

It's sometimes listed on www.wotif.com too.

Was looking at Coles Bay Retreat or Coles Bay Waterfronters but cannot find any reviews of those 2 places.... Anyone has any idea on how they are?
