Transfers Or Taxi??? Bkk to HH
Seeking any advice on getting to Hua Hin after 7.30pm - a arriving BKK and would like to transfer straight to hotel in HH, but not sure as to the best way to travel there. Am on a bit of a budget so would like to know approx costs, also do i just jump in a taxi at the airport, shuttle or do i have to organise before i leave home. What is best for 2 travellers??? also how long can i expect the trip to take. THanks

You may get a taxi to take you there, but I wouldn't count on it. Legally, there're not supposed to leave greater Bangkok, which Hua Hin is not.
I would use a 'limo' service, and pre-book it to make sure you got a car and driver that were prepared for the trip (it will take about 3 hours).
Bob's favorite, AAC (http://www.aactours.com/en/products/car_rent.php), quotes 3,590 for the trip.
Another option, Oriental Escape (http://www.aactours.com/en/products/car_rent.php) asks 2,600 one-way or 5,100 round trip.

i would only use a limo company.....your hotel might send a car for you, which might prove cheaper??
if you got a crazy taxi driver, of which there are many, you might never get there---alive...
it takes almost 3 hours....cost is about $75+, last i checked....
there are buses but at that hour i think it would not be a good idea...

I suppose if you wanted to do it the 'hard' way, you can take the free shuttle to the Airport Public Transportation Center, then take the 556 bus for 35 Baht to the southern bus terminal, and then catch a regular bus to Hua Hin, but I somewhat doubt you'll get to HH much before dawn the next day.

Bangkok taxis can be seen all along the highways outside of Bangkok heading up and down to Pattaya / Jopmtien, Rayong, Hua Hin etc.
Just go to the taxi counter, 2 hrs 30 mins /3 hrs depending on traffic and which part of HH you are hading to.
I doubt you would have any problem at all getting a taxi from the airport to HH etc as they are probably the prime mode of transport certainly down to Pattaya area and plenty of them on the road down to Hua Hin.
There are limos available 24/7 from the airport limo counter which have fixed rates for Hua Hin and other places outside BKK.
You can pre book or just go to the counter.
If on a budget the express a/c buses from Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal would be about every 40 minutes and take just over 3hrs.
I am guessing the last buses would be around Midnight but not sure.
A taxi would probably charge up to say 2,000 ( that's about AUD 80 ), so about AUD 40 each.
There are various limo companies as Michael has mentioned, 2,600 sounds a good price, remember that limos tend to be just large sedans. That's about AUD 105 something like that.

Hello,
all the answers are correct.
I am living in Pranburi, just 15 miles south of HuaHin.
My way back home from airport is normally taking a cab from departure level (50 Baht saving) and then to Southern Bus Terminal (Sai Tai). The fare is somewhat between 250 and 300 Baht. Buses for HuaHin and Pranburi are leaving every 30-40 minutes (Aircon) and in the evening they make it in less than 3 hours to HuaHin. Fare to HuaHin 160 Baht or so and the last bus is going out of Bangkok 10.20pm (not midnight).
Have a nice trip!

the bus thing would not work easily....and it would dump you out on main st HH after midnight and you still would need to get to your digs...
taxi or limo is the only option..
my issue with taxis is that they frequently don't even know how to get around in bkk, never mind going to HH....often the drivers are drugged up, etc and we have had some unbelievable drives into bkk from the airport....
personally i would do the limo thing or stay in bkk overnight (not at the airport) and go to HH the next morning on the bus or train
