Tere - How is Chaweng Regent

Tere,
I just read that you had been to Chaweng Regent. I did read that you had a wonderful time. Is the hotel luxurious? Are the rooms/Bathrooms spacious? Is the hotels right on the beach. I am very confused as to the Central Samui, The Regent and the White House.. Anyway you can help me.
Thanks

I am not Tere, but I have stayed at the Chewang Regent. I thought it was a very nice resort. It is located right on the beach. Most rooms will not face the beach, but will be just a short walk.

I will say that I was not all that impressed with the beach at the Regent. We walked down to the other end of the beach, to Poppies, one night for dinner, and I thought the beach there maybe looked nicer. It had to do with the tides.

Hi Mini. Like Carol, I also enjoyed the Regent very much and as I said in a previous post, the only thing I didn't like was the beach because of its constant low tide. I stayed in a very nice Thai style decorated room . I can't say the room was too large , it wasn't tiny either. It had the normal size. The bathroom was large, with plenty of toiletries and a large bath tube, with a separate wc . We also had a small terrace with some chairs and a table. My room was a Deluxe regency, facing the larger swimming pool.
The food there was very good and not expensive but you can walk to a lot of restaurants nearby as well as hops and bars. There is a small but very nice spa but I thought it was expensive.
The hotel has lovely grounds and is very thai and luxurious without being snobby. I did a lot of research on the net before I booked it and bdecided for it. What I can tell you is that I am very picky in what concerns hotels and resorts...

As for the other hotels you mention:
Are you referring to the Central Samui Resort or to the Central Samui Village? I don't know the Central Samui Village but it seems it's not very central, although it looks pretty nice.
If it is the Central Samui Resort, to tell you the truth it didn't appeal to me at all. Neither on the net neither there. I think it lacks the Thai feeling, the main building is very mediterranean style and I don't like that,I am in Asia , not in the Mediterranean. I think it has nothing to do with Koh Samui.

The White House is also a bit isolated and far from the center. It is smaller than the Chaweng Regent also.

Like I told you , the Chaweng Regent has my vote and the only cons for me is the beach, because I am a beach lover and I love to swim in the ocean, and I couldn't do it there. It's a very lovely resort.

Just a tip, I had an excellent body and face treatment in a gorgeous Spa in Chaweng road, next to the Mc. Donalds, just a few blocks down the Regent, next to the Central.Best massage and face treatment ( looked like I had done a face lifting and it lasted for days I had in my life and very affordable. It is the LIVING SENSES SPA and it's very luxurious, you will love it!!!

If you have any more questions or doubts feel free to ask.

Teresa

Hi teresa.. glad to know that you are still on board.. Just to give you a heads up, its my husbands birthday and we also wanted to celebrate our first anniversary.. we were looking at stayin at the sala samui but its not available.. we are looking for a luxurious holiday, of course within our budget.. So I am only worried that our stay should be special.. carol, teresa we are fortunately not into swimming at the beach so the beach should not be a problem..Your description does sound good so mostly I would be booking it in the coming week..Im already very excited about the living senses spa.. I think its just the kind of think I will like.. Can you help me with a place where we can go for the birthday.. are there any special or romantic restaurants you can suggest...
Thanks once again...

Hi Mini. I am sure you won't regret staying at the Regent.

May I sugest that , on your husband's birthday, you book a "Ever Lover" treatment ( for couples, lasts 3 hours) at the Living Senses Spa . I think they don't have a website but you can have a look at it at www.siamspaguide.com/living_senses_spa.html. I had the "Bliss and Radiant" treatment and if I was there more days I would go there every day : )

Book ahead and I am sure it will be very romantic. For dinner I would recommend you to do it at Poppies. It has fabulous food and has a very romantic setting. Also, book a table because they are always full.

Pamper yourself and your husband and follow it by a romantic candle light dinner . It will be unforgetable !!!

I wish you a great stay and let me know about it on your return

Teresa
