Old Phuket Hotel Area
We're looking at staying at the Old Phuket Hotel for a few days. It would be helpful if someone could describe the immediate surrounding area. For instance, what type of stores/restaurants are within walking distance? Thanks.

The main building is about 150 meters along from the beach raod. Opposite they have built the new single storey private Jacuzzi rooms ( great ! ). Walking down towards the beach road there are shops and restaurans either side, mix of places, a tailor shop or 2, places to relax with a drinnk. On the corner there is a restaurant ( not recommended! ). Facing beach turn right towards the Woraburi , there are several other hotels. A tuk tuk takes a few minutes to Karon Circle, lots of shops, restaurants and some bars along that road ( and severla more tailor shops ). red Onion a few minutes walk up on the left has great food !
In the other direction along the beach road is empty ground and then on to the Hilton Arcadia etc.
The direction inland is nothing, view towards the Karon Hills.
'Value for money' describes it best.

Note that the Spa deluxe rooms are 'cheaper' than the Terrace rooms but in my opinion the Spa deluxe are actualy much better than the terrace rooms because of the Spa although decor-wise not as great.
Take a look at the private Jacuzzi Rooms !!!! These are across from the main building and quite unique. The additional outside shower is though 'overlooked', but the Jacuzzi in the fron walled 'yard area' would be great at night for a splash with a nice bottle of champs or wine!!
The private jacuzzi ones are about USD 70 low season ( standrd rooms from about 32 )

The sea view picture shows the realistic distance down to the beach. The rooftop pool although small benefits from great views to the sea or to the mountains and gets a nice breeze. I would guess though peak season would be crowded.
