Mid-ranged hotel Delhi needed

Any advise on mid-ranged (approx $100) hotels in Delhi that are in a good location for touring? We are having difficulty finding an acceptable hotel in a decent neighborhood.

Is Connaught area the best place to be? We liked the looks of Hotel Palace Heights but have not found rooms to be available. Are there other areas we should focus on?

We stayed at Hotel Ajanta, "de luxe"room was not de luxe but was acceptable. Hotel not flash but rooms were clean, breakfast was good. Staff helpful. Free internet access. Taxi and tuk tuk so cheap that is is not expensive to get where you want to go

We are considering the Hotel Palace Heights. It is $163 including taxes and breakfast. Anyone have any experience with this hotel?

Dgunbug,

A friend recently stayed at Palace Hts and liked it very much (and the restaurant is good!) but i dont think she paid that much. Heck, for for another $40 at that time of yr, you could stay at the ITC Maurya (a fantastic place).

How about one of the numerous Bed and Breakfast places? Check tripadvisor for reviews. One one another Fodors friend (Rinda, who has posted here) did NOT much like was Delhi B and B.

If you chose one outside the city center, do check on nearby metro connections.

Someone else on this forum loved Chhoti Haveli,--it is in a residential area out of the center (which can be a good thing)

If you can get a room at Saubhag B and B,during your needed dates...DO IT!!! Faith Pandian, our wonderful travel agent in INdia whose judgment i trust , uses Saubhag, Meera's B and B for her clients.Write to Meera asap and see if she has an opening (see the TA reviews andyou'll see why)

Yup, i've seen the Maurya for less than $200/night .I was lucky, used Sheraton "points plus cash " but i've seen it on the ITC site, and Expedia for less than INR 9,000. Varies based on time of yr??

Try Lutyen's Bungalow (http://www.lutyensbungalow.co.in) if you don't mind staying at a smallish place, though to its credit it has oodles of charm and a very central location.

We stayed at the Hotel Del Roi
http://delhihotelsleroi.com/
We liked it, a short walk to the rapid transit and taxis in abundance. It was clean, modern and only $70 per night.

We've just come back from India and while in Delhi stayed at the BnB Chrysalis. Highly recommend it. You can read my review at http://www.tripadvisor.in/Hotel_Revi..._of_Delhi.html

Thanks for all your suggestions. We were all set to book with the Palace Heights Hotel, but they are very bad about getting back with us to answer our questions and we could not figure out how to pay for the room on their web site. We strongly considered the Hotel Del Roi, but the location seems to be a bit poor.

Anyone have any experience with Hotel Wood Castle? The reviews are very good and the price is very inexpensive.
