Malaysia Airlines versus Qatar Airways?
Hi,
We are going to KL in november for our honeymoon. But couldn't decided on the airline. Finally, we came up with two options for the airline; Malaysia and Qatar. They cost slightly the same. These two airlines also has the same five star rank among the whole airlines.
We will be traveling in economy class. Which one (malaysia or qatar) do you recommend? and does qatar airways serve alcholic drinks?
Thanks

I will guess wither from the Gulf or from Europe. If from the Gulf then both very similar, alcoholic drinks on both, similar very high standards.
Now, if you are flying from Europe to 'big' difference is that malaysia Airlines would be 'non' stop whereas Qatar Airways will stop in Doha and change flights.
Most people would go for the non stop but there are those who prefer to break up the very long hauls. So if you prefer non stop go for Malaysia but if you like to break the trip go for Qatar Airways.
Both have seatback TVs in Economy/Coach and very good in flight service. Malaysia Airlines would be a 747-400 or a 777 depending where you are flying from
The seating on the Malaysia 747-400 is 3 x 4 x 3, so as a couple one of you will get lumped in a middle seat with a stranger next to you. The 777 is 3 x 3 x 3 so same applies.
WQtara Airways uses Airbus 330 aircraft which are also 'wide body', the seating though is different, it is 2 x 4 x 2, so as a couple you have a very high chance of getting a pair of seats together 'alone' on either the left or right sides.
I hope that gives you enough to make a choice.
Have a great honeymoon!

Malaysia Airlines Istanbul to KL flight is non stop on an A 330 which is great becaue you have the 2 x 4 x 2 seating arrangement, in that case Malaysia would be your best choice. Sweet charm your travel agent as I am guessing won't be too busy on the routing in Business Class and if your agent mentions in your reservation you are Honeymoon Couple you could strike lucky on an upgrade, but anyhow haveing the pair ( just 2 seats ) on either side and 4 in the middle you will be able to have 2 seats on your own. From IST no point really goinfg with WQtara and changing in Doha.
