We have similar rates for these two hotels, and were wondering which one we should go for.<BR><BR>Thanks!

Hi there,<BR>I was in Tokyo earlier this year and stayed at the Tokyo Century Hyatt. The hotel is near Shinjuku station. The hotel rooms are very spacious, although the decor isn't the greatest. We could see Mt. Fuji from our hotel room on a clear sunny day. <BR><BR>Although it is within walking distance to the Shinjuku station/shopping area, we really appreciated the fact that there was a complimentary shuttle bus that took hotel guests to/from Shinjuku station. Especially at the end of a long day of shopping and sight seeing!

We have stayed at the Keio Intercontinental and had no problems. It is an easy walk to Shinjuku station. It is a huge building and very modern - not very Japanese in any way. And "international" hotel.

We actually stayed at both hotels in March and April 2002. Our trip to Japan and China involved staying in Tokyo for three days before flying to Beijing and staying two nights after returning from Beijing.<BR><BR>We stayed at the Keio Inter-Continental first because the rate was cheaper in March and breakfast was included. From Narita Airport, we took the Friendly Limousine to the hotel; please note that it was almost always referred to as the Keio Plaza with no mention of Inter-Continental. We were dropped at the front door and met by our bellman who escorted us to the front desk. The staff spoke excellent English. Our room on the 40th floor had two twin beds, a table with two chairs, a desk and chair, a mini bar, a safe, a closet with two terry cloth robes and four pair of slippers (two for us to take with us and two to stay at the hotel), a television with CNN, and a coffee and tea maker. Our bathroom had a really fancy toilet with a seat warmer, odor control, bidet, warm water nozzle, dryer, and other gizmos. We also had toothbrushes, shampoo, conditioner, lotions, and a sewing kit. The room had a small vanity with a hair dryer. The view was incredible. We received breakfast coupons redeemable at several different restaurants. We tried two different ones but the food was essentially the same: a good mix or western and Japanese with eggs, croissants, cereal, juice, yogurt, bacon, fruit, french fries, rice, tofu, soup, fish, and lots of other food. The staff was very helpful and arranged transport to Narita Airport and stored our bags for us. We walked to and from Shinjuku Station using the underground passageways; the hotel is marked in English.<BR><BR>We stayed at the Century Hyatt but did not receive breakfast with our rate. We also took the Friendly Limoiusine to the hotel (one stop past the Keio Plaza). Our room was similar but did not have a fancy toilet. The staff was very nice and helpful. The lobby was just beautiful. We took the complimentary shuttle to and from Shinjuku Station because it was convenient; we did walk one day and it was only a few blocks farther. <BR><BR>Both hotels are similar. I would stay at either again and select the one with the best rate.

Please note carefully Dorothy's comment that this hotel is referred to as Keio Plaza. If you ask to go to the Inter-Continental you will most likely end up at the Inter-Continental Hotel Tokyo Bay which is quite a long way from the Keio Plaza.<BR><BR>
