Japan Airlines vs. Cathay Pacific economy class - Which would you choose?

Hi all,
I am trying to decide between Japan Airlines and Cathay Pacific both economy class for an upcoming trip to Bali. Japan Airlines would be about $1ooo. cheaper but I think Cathay Pacific would be more comfortable (we are average height). What would you do? Any advice would be so helpful. Thanks so much!

Are the flights equal lengths? I would go with the shortest flight. Cathay is a somewhat better ariline but I would say it is NOT $1000 better in economy. japan Air is starting premium economy on some of their flights. I would check that out. Or look into the thai airways or eva air premium economy.

$1000 difference?

I'd go with Japan Airlines, as glorialf has suggested.

Our family flew JAL economy class in 2005 and we were pleased. We are all average size and height...we thought the FA's were very nice and were totally impressed by the food and service.

Hope that helps.

I've travelled with Cathay Pacific at least 6 times...And only once with JAL...I much more prefered JAL...and for such a big price difference, i wouldn't even consider Cathay...

I have been on both airlines within the last few years and think both are good airlines. One connects in Hong Kong and the other in Tokyo. Might prefer one to the other depending on flight departure time etc but for $1000 I would pick JAL without question.

Let me suggest a completely different take. try Singapore Air to Singapore and then to Bali.Definitely the best airline in the world. Other possibilities are New Zealand Air and Emirates.
