Hong Kong or Kowloon

I am topping off a trip to China with 3 days in Hong Kong...first time in HK...is it better to stay on Hong Kong Island or Kowloon, or does it really matter?

it really does not matter, but personally i prefer kowloon as there always seems more tourist oriented things going on and tons of shopping...

Personally, I prefer Kowloon, I love the view across the water to Hong Kong! It really doesn't matter that much as long as you are convenient to the subway.

Here is another vote for staying on the Kowloon side. Beautiful views of the Peak and HK skyline at night are definitely a plus.

Also a plus for the shopping, food and especially the absence of a climb everywhere you go as it is not mentioned here much but everywhere you walk on the HK side(especially Central) seems to involve a steep hike up a hill or series of unending stairs.

Aloha!

Thanks, everyone, for your input...after I posted my message I went looking through other threads on the subject and seemed to get the impression that the HKI side was the best for a first time visit! I suppose I will just look for the most appealing hotel and surrender to the fact that no matter where we land, I am sure to have a great experience!

Doesn't matter. Get the best hotel for your money on the days you want.

Thanks everyone--picked the Harbour Plaza--a little out of the way in Kowloon, but according to tripadvisor can't beat the quality for the price...and it seems fairly accessible to all the sights.
