So folks, it's almost time for our busiest holiday here in the States and my favorite holiday. I absolutely love Thanksgiving.

So since this is a forum of food obsessed folks....smiles...I was wondering what you all are cooking up?

I've decided to stay home and cook for myself and will be whipping up pan-grilled salmon with sauteed onions and topped with whole-berry cranberry sauce. I'll also do steamed asparagus and then do a penne with tahini and tamari sauce. I'll probably drop by my Thai friend's restaurant tomorrow and get an order of fried yam rounds. They'll easily hold up a day in the fridge. Then if I can get into the market today, I'll pick up some honey graham crackers and canned pumpkin pie mix and make a graham cracker crusted pumpkin pie. I love my own cooking which is why I'm staying home this Thanksgiving. Plus, parents...siblings...are out of town for the holiday
anyway. I didn't want to be anywhere near an airport this coming weekend. Smiles. So, Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Travels! Gobble...Gobble...

We don't cook- we are going to the Omni Hotel for a great Thanksgiving brunch- Turkey, Ham, Prime Rib, all the fixings, sumptious desserts, champaigne, chocolate covered strawberries, caviar, shrimp - the works!

Well, I LOVE turkey and the trimmings, so I'll celebrate TG at my friends home on Thursday, then will probably make another turkey meal on Sunday at home for DH and myself!

But your meal sounds really good Guenmai. Can you send a take out order to honolulu??

Happy Thanksgiving, Asia posters!

I grew up in England, where turkey belonged to Christmas, and I've never really adjusted to Thanksgiving, plus I'm limping. So I'm starting with a wonderful tortilla soup from Whole Foods, with chunks of chicken and chilies, followed by steak, twice-baked potato and green beans, and finishing with cannoli (also WF), and maybe cheese and biscuits. Along with some 2006 Layer Cake Shiraz that I just picked up at the wine merchant. The 2005 was wonderful, so I have high hopes for the 2006.

Turkey and all the trimmings at my parents house in RI - special guest of honor is my 102 yr old grandfather - still sharp but blind and does not hear too well although hearing aid helps. On Friday, I do a classic lasagna for everyone with Caesar Salad and garlic bread - yummmm!

breakfast at mcdonalds....lunch at taco bell and supper of campbell's tomato soup and grilled cheese...pecan pie with tons of whipped cream....

as an indentured servant of guenmai's i cannot afford more...

please send mcdonalds coupons...PO X 305, bollywood....

Thanks for the post, Guenmai. Since I burnt 2 of them, I love turkey but don't make them anymore. Attending good neighbors gathering, bringing edemame as finger food, hot & sour soup, a Trader Joe's carrot cake and wine.

Breakfast group at Perkins (this is a very long standing tradition).. a group of teachers who taught together back in the late 70's and we've remained friends! Nice tradition!

I'm not cooking turkey either! I'm having turkey and the trimmings with my mother in the nursing home, and then meeting up with BIL's family after that, for even more turkey and trimmings.

I think I'll be happily stuffed by the end of the day!

Some of us will be celebrating Thanksgiving in the traditional fashion, i.e., dinner at Mom Tri's Boathouse. Maybe they have Turkey Laab.
