PaganiPilot: Below I'll post Carol's last Bangkok thread as I have it bookmarked in my Fodors bookmarks. I'm sure you will enjoy the read.

I am so glad that I was able to drop by Carol's serviced apartment, in Bangkok, in January 2017. She and I had a lot of great chit-chat and laughter and talked about all of our humorous adventures throughout the years as we go back about a decade. We had been to several GTGs together and also connected here, in L.A., when she flew in for a short time. When I return to Bangkok each year, it will be strange to know that she is no longer somewhere in Thailand and at the same time that I'm there as even though we couldn't always hook up in Bangkok, due to busy schedules, we would e-mail each other while there.
When I returned home from S.E. Asia, in Feb 2017, Carol e-mailed me to let me know that she had made it home and to update me on her medical status. I felt very happy to get the e-mail and e-mailed back, but unfortunately she didn't receive it as she had passed the day before, I think it was. She is truly missed.
Happy Travels!

She sure is missed. She had such a unique perspective on her favorite city in the world and we got to know her friends, family, about her business, favorite restaurants, places to shop, beaches in such a nice easy breezy style. I always looked forward to reading about game night at the Pickled Liver, dinner with Lars and family and what new shopping mall she discovered. I remember when I first discovered her posts, I spent days binge-reading all of the past posts like you do a TV show -- utterly enthralled and charmed. Her last post, which Geunmai graciously reposted, was especially poignant. Hospitalized and a able to enjoy the city as she would have liked, she still underscored her love of Bangkok by just being able to sit out on the big panorama balcony she adored. I just loved that Geunmai was able to make that visit and they both wrote about it. I have never met any Fodorites in person to my knowledge, though I am grateful for all of the advice I have received when I take off on new destinations with my children, but I truly felt like I knew Carol just a bit through her gracious, warm and interesting posts. I truly hope that her husband and son and extended family know how much she was appreciated by strangers from afar.
