Hello from Bangkok
First day report...
Checked into Erawan Place, slept, got a taxi from the hotel to Sukhumvit and am now going to Face for a massage ( with my beautiful wife ).
Penalty avoidance complete, will report again later.

Face was incredible !!! and I am not one for massages...
Now on Koh Samui. Finished Blue Stars kayaking...awesome. Lawana Resort is very nice ( thank you Bob ) Tonight Chawaeng. Tommorrow elephant trek for an hour and a half ( don't want the full monkey show mountain top bit ) followed by canopy adventures zipline through the jungle. Next day just kick back until flight to Bangkok. Being devoured by mosquitos at the moment...will post again soon..

LLoyd-you have avoided the D. penalty. Good to hear your enjoying yourself, which is the putative ultimate purpose of this board. However, we will expect a detailed recitation of the minutiae at your leisure.

my thai friend is telling me that the streets of bkk are all clogged with traffic and things are a bit of a mess with all the dignitaries arriving for the celebration this weekend....
he says there are 800,000 people around the grand palace tonight all with yellow T shirts on....hailing the King...
wish i were there but am not missing the traffic mess...roads get closed when dignitaries leave their hotels...it must be wild

Thank you,
Tong has made me aware of the traffic conditions that we will expect, she has scheduled our itinerary around it as much as possible. She has aranged to have her husnand drive us so that she doesn't have to park while guiding us. She is also trying to figure out where everyone is likely to be so that we are somewhere else at that time.
No elephant trek today ( maybe a half day trek tommorrow ), the place we arranged got our room number wrong ( I repeated it twice ) so they didn't send the transfer.
No loss, the canopy cable took us until 2 PM ( very, very cool...my favotite so far is still the kayaking even though my legs got pretty sunburned ). Went to the pool, ate lunch ( the food at Lawana resort is VERY tasty. Last night we ate at Ivory ( some shopping square at Chawaeng ) with a traditional Thai dance show...nice food, nice show. Saw the girls down the alleys at Chawaeng and the lady boys...I am not into people as commodities but my wife ( that's a hard word to get used to !!! ) wanted to see and she wants to see a show involving the ladies in Bangkok too.
Tonight it's Impiana for a couples massage and dining at Tamarind on the same premises ( maybe ). So far I'm two days in and can't wait to come back !!!
Will write again soon,
Lloyd

take the mrs. to the calypso cabaret in bkk at the asia hotel...its only about a 1.5 hours show and its fantastic...you can reserve on line or have your hotel do it...the asia hotel has a direct entrance from the skytrian stop so it is very easy...
sit up front if you can...i sat front center and had a big fat kiss from one of the "ladies"...the show is a real hoot and very entertaining...
