Goodbye, Carol Simpson

Sad news today. Carol Simpson passed away. She was an active traveler and Fodorite right up to the end. I can't remember how many times we met along with other Fodorites. Many Honolulu and Boston GTGs and others in Bangkok, Los Angeles, Pasadena. My deepest sympathy to her family.

Carol was a special person. She will be missed. My condolences to her son, Brad, and her husband and all of her extended family and friends.

I am so sorry to hear that. Thanks for letting us know.

That is such sad news. She was a lovely lady and fun to be with. I wish we could have met again in Bangkok. My condolences to her family.

she will be missed by all of us. she was always so chipper.

she had the guts and grit to return to her beloved Bangkok one last time over Christmas, 2016, when she really felt poorly.

Evidently she was at home until yesterday, under hospice care. Within the last week she made her final visit to their "shop".

Fodors Asia Board will not be the same without her!!

Even though I never met Carol, I felt like I knew her from all the posting she wrote here. They were always informational, fun, different with her energy and joy for life. It seems that it was only a few days ago that I was reading her postings from her beloved Bangkok. I am so happy she was able to have those last current memories. Thoughts, prayers and strength for all her family and dear friends.

I also never met Carol, but I so enjoyed her recent postings from Bangkok. It is so lovely that she was able to take that trip, one last time. She seemed like a classy lady.

Thank you for posting, Lcuy. Always hard to learn something like this about a Fodors Family member. I knew her only thorough her words, which will, of course, continue to provide knowledge and insights.

Oh no, so sad. She was a wonderful lady.

Bob, yes, "so chipper" is right.

So sorry to hear the news, always loved raiding her posts. Condolences to the family.

It is a sad day indeed, here in Fodorville. Carol was a special lady, a traveler's traveler, and the sort of person who made Fodors what it is.

She had exactly the sort of attitude and outlook that I aspire to. She was a smart lady with strong opinions, but always stated in a positive way. Pure class, with a decidedly Midwestern accent. And nothing broke her stride...she always wanted to talk about her next trip, and never about her difficulties.

RIP Carol.

When I think of a Fodorite, I think of Carol Simpson. She traveled the world freely...Europe, Asia,USA. We will miss you at the GTGs and your reports here on the Fourms. LOve to Bob, Brad, and all her family.

RIP, Carol.

Love and condolences to Bob, Brad and family.

Linda and I first met Carol at the first LA GTG. In fact she was the first fodorite we ever met. Since then we have crossed paths in Bangkok, Pasadena, Boston, and every year on her October trips to Hawaii. We even traveled to Kona one year together along with the kuranosukes.

Courage, fortitude, and grace, Carol is someone I will always remember fondly.

And I smile as I say this but I will think of her every time I eat a pizza or have a cup of Haagen Daz ice cream at a mall.

Aloha Oe my friend!

Sorry to hear this - it's very sad news. While I never met Carol, either, I enjoyed reading about her trips to Bangkok and loved her passion for the city. How wonderful that she was able to make every moment count, traveling to the last. My condolences to the family, too.

mr_go expressed my thoughts perfectly. Carol was a wonder. She will be missed. It was always a pleasure to see her in Boston.
My deepest condolences to Bob and Brad and family.

So sad to hear this news. She was a lively woman who brightened up the Boston GTGs. Glad she was able to travel up through Dec. My condolences to her family.

I often read her posts about Bangkok - always so interesting.
RIP and condolences...

Jeane and I extend our condolences to Brad and the rest of her family. We spent many GTG's with Carol as she was a frequent visitor to New England to be with the Asia Board Fodorites. We also had the good fortune to have Carol to ourselves in Singapore a few years ago, sharing travel stories in the Club Lounge at the Intercontinental. RIP, Carol - you will be missed...
