I have a pair of admittedly not-too-pretty Siebels that I've walked all over London in and plan to take to Italy next week. They're 3 or 4 years old but still look ok and the only shoes I can walk a lot in that don't irritate my Morton's Neuroma in my left foot! Wouldn't leave home without them!

Hi everyone, I fell in love with sketchers luxe- They look like a maryjane with lace work, velcro strap, come in white, black, pink, creme, but they feel like a sneaker. I am amazed how cute and how comfortable they are. You can wear them with capris, jeans, and even a summer dress. I plan on taking them on my trip to asia in May. Here is a link for sketchers website-

Teva's for hiking. Easy Spirit for cities (and I wear mine with skirts). Even the high heels from Easy Spirit are comfortable! http://www.easyspirit.com/

I find that my Crocs are great for walking on cobblestone streets. They are lightweight, my feet don't sweat in them, they don't stain, and they are easy to clean (just rinse them in the shower or sink). They're great in the rain too, keep my feet dry and I just dry them off with a towel. I wore them last summer in the British Isles and this summer in Bavaria.
For city or evening, I have Ecco sandals and Munroe dressy sandals that are super comfy.

I would think Crooks would be hot. I have been using Teve'a Ventura cork style for years. When you can carry only 1, or 2 pairs of shoes they have to versitle. These are cool, shock absorbant (for those of us with feet problems), and can be sporty or dressy depending on the color you choose. Not cheap. but not unafordable like some of the "walking shoes" out there. Google them or available from travelsmith.

Shoes are always a great subject and very personal, but I am surprised that noone has mentioned my particular favorite "ugly" shoe. While in a pricey shoe store, my daughter insisted that I try on a Berne Mev. I relented and put these zippered holey shoes on. They are now my "sole"mates. They literally went Around the World. They said they were washable leather and I proved that they were after riding an elephant in Thailand, walking miles on every kind of terraine and even smucking through dung of all kinds in Africa. After washing them and using a hotel shoe sponge, they were as good as new and as soft and comfortable as ever. Of course, they discontinued that style (the Duke), but luckily, I found a new style - without holes and zipper. The "Delp", now christened the elf shoe, is nubuck & has 2 eyelet laces. I'm hoping the green & black ones I got are going to be as good as the last. I will test them in Wales, Iceland, etc in August.
PS - anyone knowing where I can buy the "Duke" style in a size 38 in Any color, please let me know.
