Chiang Mai Hotel
Going to be in Chiang Mai in March for a several of nights. Any good hotel recomendations? I like the midpriced hotels that are a good value. What are the 'must sees' for Chiang Mai? I imagine in two full days I can cover most things? Thanks.

Mid-priced for one person is not for another. Give us a baht or dollar price range and we can help.
IMO, the one must-see in CM is Doi Suthep. For some people, the Thai Elephant Conservation Camp is another must--see. It's located about 20 miles out of town.

Thanks for the quick reply. I would say $75 to $150 a night. I have stayed at some great boutigue hotels in Luang Prabang and Phnom Pen that were a great value. I was looking for something that is nice but also a good value for what it is. There is always seems to be one in most of asias smaller cities.

In that range uou have a choice of a majority of hotels, other than the luxury ones. I never pay more than $75 for a comfortable place to stay.
For an ideal of some boutique hotels take a look at this site for some ideas

Also take a look at the Bean Orapin which is excellent

Just for interest what hotel in Phnom Penh did you stay at. There are not very many boutique places there that I know about

For Thailand, Chiang Mai included, a price of $75 to $150 per night is more luxury level than mid range!
When you can get a hotel that has air, private toilet/shower, cable TV, air conditioning and maid service starting around $10 per night you can see that you are not "mid priced."

In Chiang Mai you can get tours through travel agencies if you want. Same for Bangkok and Phuket.

Check out De Naga (if you're keen on being in one of the most central locations in CM) and Manathai Village. We stayed at both boutique hotels 2 weeks ago and they were both fantastic in their own right and in your price range...although De Naga is definitely right in the thick of everything inside the old city.
