Can anyone recommend guest houses, rooms for rent, hostels or other budget accomodations in Mumbai for June. Specifically the Malabar Hill/Breach Candy area.

Can only recommend the Hotel Lawrence at ITTS House, 33 Sri Sai Baba Marg, Fort Mumbai, close to Prince of Wales Museum, Churchgate Station & Colaba. 500 rupees per night inc bfast per twin bed room. They have 8 spartan, clean, quiet rooms and 3 shared bathrooms which are cleaned often. The beds are good, the location is great, the owners are helpful. Take a towel, soap, toilet paper. Phone 91 code for India then 22 22843618. They have no email or fax. Office is open 8 am to 6 pm Mumbai time. Good luck. It's just like camping only more fun! Best value budget accommodation in India, along with Hotel Sheela in Agra, imho.

In Malabar Hill there is a club the Western india Automobile Association which has comfy but basic a/ced rooms for far less than what a hotel charges. A member has to book for you. See what you can google on them as reciprocal memberships works too.

Are the rooms Air-conditioned? Is the 500 rupees per bed or per room as I am traveling single.
Thanks

Dewayne-The Hotel Lawrence is not air cond. Only overhead fans. 500 rupees is for two people per night. Ring them for single rate. Should be around 300-350 r's, I imagine.
