BKK Hyatt or IHC hotels
I'll be stopping off in Bkk just for 2nts, 1 full day, and am interested in shopping at the malls and spa-ing. Is the Hyatt and the IHC the only 2 lux hotels withing walking distance of the malls? I've stayed at the Hyatt before and it was very convenient and had a good spa but would love to try someplace else this time.

I assume you mean the Grand Hyatt Erawan and the Intercontinental (which I would abbreviate "ICH"
. We stayed at the Intercontinental in 2007 and thought it was fine - the location is excellent. The other lux hotel in the area is the Four Seasons. It is not as well situated but it is technically in the main shopping district - there is a skytrain stop directly in front of it.

Yes, and thanks. I think I will be going to Burma for a few days prior and your photos were incredible-have been looking at your report but not sure exactly where I'll be going yet since it will only be about 6days.

Plaza Athenee and Nai Lert are not remotely within walking distance of the shopping area, but they are two Skytrain stops away.
The new hotel is the Centara Grand, which just opened. I haven't seen them myself, but one guest mentioned it looked like the furniture was older than the hotel. Maybe that was just temporary.
