Plenty of things to do in Rishikesh!
a. Rishikesh has a very clean riverside Hill bazaar. In this bazaar there are a number of small restaurants with the sitting area overlooking the river and the Ganges valley. you can spend sometime watching the goings on and the water-rafters coming down from Shivpuri and beaming with joy as they are about to complete their sector.
b. The Aarti to the river performed by the pontiff of Parmarth Ashram, wonderfully done, on the Ghat below the ashram. The young disciples perform it in the absence of the pontiff. It is very less crowded, unlike both Varanasi & Haridrwar. Your family could even participate in the proceedings.
c. For Yoga you could go to Parmarth Ashram.
d. Pick up a few sandwiches/coffee, from your hotel of stay, hire a boat from near one of those two jhulas (suspension bridges), and ask the boatman to row you upstream. There are some small 'beaches' on the riverside, where you can sit and relax, watch nature and enjoy your sandwiches. If any kids are travelling they will love it, for all kids love throwing pebbles in the river!!!
e. There are water-sports at Shivpuri, some 15 miles on the road to Badrinath.
f. There are some very nice hikes from this area. On one such hikes, some years previously, I came upon a pack man with his load of sheep, donkeys, grocery and a couple of sheep dogs, perched on a rock smoking his hookah. He was going to the small hill villages to sell, where even today there is no communication and roads. The only means being the footpaths and goat tracks!
g. The Beatles Ashram.
h. And, as your pseudonym suggests, the Corbett, which should not be more than three hours away.
Happy travels!

Rishikesh is also known as the Yoga capital of India and there are many ashrams offering Yoga sessions some of them are a month long.
You can take part in one of such yoga sessions. It is one of the biggest religious centers by the side of river Ganges.
Other than yoga - Rishikesh is also famous for adventure activities like white-water rafting, boating, camping by the river in a place called Kaudiyala.
