tiger doesn't fly it, nor does air asia. can anyone suggest a cheap way to do it? on line all fares are in the $89 range for august! help! one way or r/t fine if cheaper!

Air Asia from Johor Bharu ( bus from Singapore ) easy, Air asia used to package in the bus transfer, don't know if they still do, so the trick is to fly between KL and Johor Bharu on Air Asia and then bus connect from/to downtown Singapore, people do it all the time.

Alternatively you could take one of those luxury coaches from KL to SG. It takes just a little longer and save you the journey to KLIA.

I agree with KMLoke. Taking a luxury coach will take you about 4 hours to reach Singapore from KL. The seats are very comfortable... like business class seats.
After taking into account the checking in, trip to airport etc, you'll spend about the same amount of time.
I think it costs around US$20 each way
