Ailrine advice in India
Hi! Have received great ideas from you all. I am exploring a trip from Delhi to Varanasi. The agency has recommended flights on India Airlines. I have read a few messages lately recommending Jet Air. Is this something I should insist upon? Also, it looks like both airlines return options put me in Delhi late afternoon...I'm guessing it will be quite a long journey to the hotel from the airport?
THanks for your help!

Jet is a very nice airline, India not considered as nice. They have almost identical schedules wherever they compete. The flight is not that long though, so won't be a tragedy if you have to India, but I'd prefer Jet.
It is about 45 minutes into Delhi from the airport.

Hello there!
I fly the route all the time, actually just flew from Varanasi to Delhi a few days back.
If/when i have a choice in the matter, for sure would go for jet Air, my favorite domesitc carrier in India. The planes are newer and the staff friendlier by a long shot.
Indian Airlines has some very very old planes. The good news it that they have recently acquired a few new Airbuses too that will ply the KTM Varanasi secotr, thanx to the heavens as i am on this flight all the time when leading my tours!
It usually takes about 40 minutes plus to get from the airport in Delhi into the thick of the city,(assuming you are going to Connaught Place) but really depends where u are going and what time of day/night..Traffic in Delhi is crazy and sporadic and can pop up at all hours. The road near the airport is pure chaos!
Anyways, happy travels and feel free to drop me a line. I am a American in India. Namaste..

I would go with Jet Airways. Flew with them recently from London to Mumbai and then to Goa and found them great! Much better than Air France or KLM.
New planes, great service and entertainement, very good food. A wonderful airline!

We're using Spicejet for Varanasi to Delhi and Kingfisher for Delhi to Cochin. Forget Sahara, impossible for foreigners to book online and also has dual pricing for foreigners, though that is about to change as I've just read on indiamike.com

I found mouthshut.com has reviews of these Indian domestic airlines:
http://www.mouthshut.com/product-rev...925004268.html
Among the expensive airlines, KingFisher and Jet are supposed to be the best. Among the cheaper ones, SpiceJet and maybe Sahara.
I'm trying to take an early morning flight out of Delhi, and the choices are GoAir and IndiGo but both rated pretty bad.
Also, I still don't see where it's written that foreign tourists get more luggage allowance than what's stated on the airline's website. Does it apply throughout your travel in India or just for the first connecting flight?
