What happens if the airline folds?

I just bought a great ticket from EWR to TLV from Virgin/ El-Al for Christmas time.... trying to buy at a good rate before fuel goes up....

But what happens if one of those airlines goes under?
Does anyone know if I am refunded or assisted in finding a comparable flight?

Both seem pretty stable right now... but nothing's really secure anymore.....

Any info would be appreciated.. Thanks!

1) Don't worry.
2) Don't worry.
3) Don't worry.
4) Never forget rules 1-3 above.

Seriously, there is no cause of any type for alarm - especially on El Al, which is a state Flag carrier.

In the extraordinarily unusual event of something happening, almost all air carriers have made arrangements with other carriers for passengers passage.

Remember, don't forget rules 1-3. ;-)

If El Al were to fold, we'll probably in WW3 and there are many more important things to consider.

While Singapore Airlines is looking for a buyer for its 49% of Virgin, it is not in any financial problem at all.

El Al is a state airline, not private. I wouldn't worry.

No, the government holds something like 15% of stock, with Knafaim - Arkia Holdings Ltd. owning 39% of the stock, Pinchas Ginsburg owning 8% and the employees union owning 6%.
