What happens if the airline folds?
I just bought a great ticket from EWR to TLV from Virgin/ El-Al for Christmas time.... trying to buy at a good rate before fuel goes up....
But what happens if one of those airlines goes under? Does anyone know if I am refunded or assisted in finding a comparable flight? Both seem pretty stable right now... but nothing's really secure anymore..... Any info would be appreciated.. Thanks! |
1) Don't worry.
2) Don't worry. 3) Don't worry. 4) Never forget rules 1-3 above. Seriously, there is no cause of any type for alarm - especially on El Al, which is a state Flag carrier. In the extraordinarily unusual event of something happening, almost all air carriers have made arrangements with other carriers for passengers passage. Remember, don't forget rules 1-3. ;-) Dave |
If El Al were to fold, we'll probably in WW3 and there are many more important things to consider.
While Singapore Airlines is looking for a buyer for its 49% of Virgin, it is not in any financial problem at all. |
El Al is a state airline, not private. I wouldn't worry.

No, the government holds something like 15% of stock, with Knafaim - Arkia Holdings Ltd. owning 39% of the stock, Pinchas Ginsburg owning 8% and the employees union owning 6%. |
