The problem seems to be across the Atlantic will cost you 100,000 milse per person each way.

BUT - good news.
I do see JFK - CDG round trip, departing 4/14 and returning 5/20 available for 50,000 miles each, and DFW-CDG for 50,000 each one way any day, so you may be able to mix and match flights, paying for the US-CDG flights at 50,000 each way (200,000 total) and getting domestic one way flights for 12,500 each (SAN-DFW and BOS-SAN) for 250,000 total miles.

AAFF, is there a way I can throw 10,000 miles loisco's way?

Piecing this together may take the help of a phone agent. I'd give AA a call and see what they can do. THey can put a courtesy hold on an interary for you at no risk.

Please call AA. You can't check availability on partner airlines on line.

I believe and correct me if I'm wrong J62 is just checking AA availability.

I just checked AA and found a 50K SAN to CDG connecting in ORD. SO there are some out there.

Correct - I was poking around on AA website to see what AA had available on AA only, not any partner airlines.

The good thing about FF tickets is that you can call them up, and put something hold for a short time (1 week or 2?) with no commitment. You can then go to the website to finalize the purchase, thereby avoiding the AA phone ticketing fees.

I do this a lot - grab something that looks OK, then keep looking or sleep on it to see if it's what you really want before you commit.
