Anyone recently changed a name on an AAdvantage ticket?

Is it difficult?
My husband just backed out of a trip for this Friday and I want to switch it to my sister (T class, AAdvantage ticket).
Just checking to see if there is a 'best way' to do this...
Thanks

You can't do that.

He'll have to deposit the miles back to his account, and then reissue a new ticket in your sister's name.

Well, I got a good rep who told me I was MUCH better off just cancelling the tkt and keeping it for the same routing within a year.
I don't lose anything and there is no charge to rebook.
It costs like 125 to reinstate(somthing like that) and there was no T space on my flights for my sister...
I guess I am alone on this trip

It is free to change the date/time of an AA Award ticket, as long as nothing else is changed (ie, airports, routing). However, don't your husband need to choose a future date right away?

For reinstating (ie, cancel the ticket and redepositing the miles), it costs $150.

Moreover, IF there were an available T class on that flight, it'll cost your sister $100 fee to issue an award ticket, as it is requested less than 7 days prior to departure.

You have a full year to complete/plan the travel and can book anytime. You just have to keep the tkt number for reference.
