I don't think I have an evoucher. I simply called and said I wouldn't be taking the flight, haven't made any changes yet, haven't paid any fees yet. I can see the ticket value by entering the original ticket number on refunds.aa.com. I probably should have said canceled reservation.

I think I figured out I need to put the new itinerary on hold and call to have the ticket value applied. Can't do it online since I have an unused ticket. I wasn't searching under the right terms until you mentioned evoucher so thanks!

Just to double check, I was told I could not apply funds from this ticket to codeshare flights, is this correct?
My original ticket was domestic/AA coded/AA operated. I would like to use it for domestic/AA coded/AS operated.
Is there some other way to do it? Thanks!

I still haven't done anything with this ticket and have 2 more questions.
1) If I use it on a lower fare, can the $150 change fee be deducted from the original ticket value or do I need to pay that separately?
2) What happens to the remaining value, does it become an evoucher with an expiration date one year from voucher issuance?
I've only ever made changes to higher fares so don't know what happens in this situation. Thanks!

Patty, my AA experience is from a couple of years ago; they deducted the change fee from the original ticket amount and applied the value to the new.
Re the second question, I believe it depends on the fare rules of the original ticket. I canceled a trip with Continental and later bought another ticket which was about half the price (the first ticket was international travel, the second domestic US). They deducted the change fee, issued US ticket and gave me an e-voucher for the remainder. I don't know if AA's rules are similar. Good luck.
