Reconfirming for International Flights
Hi all! My husband and I will be leaving CA for Paris for our first international trip on Saturday, January 3, 2004. We're on a non-stop flight from SFO to CDG on Air France. Given what happened recently with the flights to/from Paris to LAX, should I reconfirm the flights now or do we wait until the usual 72 hours pre-departure? Air France's website as well as others (Travelocity, Expedia) still list our flight as a go. If for some reason the flight gets cancelled, does Air France automatically put us on another airline, or are we just out of luck? Any input would be appreciated.

I would be surprised if there is going to be an issue with your flight and it's way too soon to be checking on it with any kind of certainty. Your best bet is to check with the Air France website (not third parties). What I usually do is check to see that the inbound aircraft that will become my outbound flight is enroute and on schedule (something that generally can't be determined 72 hours in advance unless there is a real problem.) It's possible to be placed on other carriers when there are certain types of cancellations. It's not worth thinking a whole lot about at this point because it is not all that likely, but that is why it pays to check in with some time to spare instead of cutting things too closely.

Ajay....its a simple process and well worth your time...
1. Call the airline
2. Indicate to the tlelphone sales agent
that you wish to reconfirm your flight reservations. They will ask for you confirmation number or your flight number and your name plus the date of travel. They will most likely inform you that the flight is "routine and on time".I always ask if they have posted a gate number for departure.
3. You are now on your way to an enjoyable voyage.
Hope that helps........S

Thanks for the re-assurances guys!
Wildflower - I bought the tickets through AAA. I'm assuming that when I reconfirm, we'll need to call the airline directly.
Thanks again and I hope you all had a great holiday! DU

monzmom...
go to http://checkmytrip.com
You will need your confirmation number. this will provide you with the most up-to-date flight information, including reschedules or delayed flights. It wzas recommended to me by an Air France agent. I am also flying Air France (Tomorrow and am a little nervous!).
