Delta ticket but Air France flight -where to check in?

I purchased tickets through Delta from JFK to Florence, but the flight is with their codeshare partner Air France. At JFK, do I go and check in at the Air France terminal? Sorry if this is a dumb question. I do not fly often. Any info would be appreciated.

Our flight number for JFK to CDG is #8581 and then flight #8593 from CDG to Florence. The flight back is from Rome and is a just a straight Delta Flight #149 (not connected to Air France, I believe). Thanks for being interested in helping me!

You always check in with the airline on which you'll be flying. If it's AF metal, then go to the AF checkin.

We flew AirCanada from Rome to Toronto last year. It was an Alitalia plane (had I known I would not have selected this flight). The Alitalia check ins were swamped and it was chaotic. Air Canada checked us in immediately. Our tickets were issued by AC with an AC flight number.

DL8581 is the same as AF7. It is a Air France flight, and therefore you check in at AF's counter in JFK Terminal 1.

AF7 arrives at CDG Terminal 2C.

Your next flight, DL8593 is the same as AF 5040, and it departs CDG Terminal 2D. It is on a Bae146 4-engined regional jet, operated by Cityjet on behalf of Air France.

Make sure you write down those two AF flight numbers, especially for 5040 as they may not display the DL flight number on the boards.

DL149 is a non-stop flight from Rome to JFK, and you're correct that it's operated by Delta (and not Alitalia).
