Who do I believe, Delta or Air France???

Hi Everyone,
I booked our flights to and from Europe using Delta Skymiles, flying on Air France. Originally our outbound flight was Los Angeles to London nonstop, but a few weeks after booking it was changed to a layover in Paris. No big deal except...

For the past two months I have been getting conflicting information as what time my flight leaves from LAX on July 27. Using the Delta Flight confirmation number on Delta.com it says we're leaving at 11:15 pm. But when I use the Air France flight number they gave me on the Air France site it says we leave at 9:15 pm. The flight number is the same: Air France 67. I thought it would straighten out on one of the sites in time but it hasn't.

When I call each airline they say they are correct. Who do I believe and how do I know when we are really leaving. It wouldn't be the greatest start to our vacation if we arrived at the airport just as our flight is leaving! Any help on how to sort this out would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Michele

Are you sure there's an 11:15 pm on Delta? I tried to check the schedules here and I seem to see only a 9:15 pm:

There are three non-stops and the last is Delta 8609.

This is very interesting.

We also booked our flights using Skymiles (JFK to Paris on Air France and Belgium to JFK on Delta).

Since our booking, we have had two [minor] time changes on our outbound flight and one [minor] change on our inbound flight. The second time, a Delta agent called and left us a message telling us to contact them regarding the change.

Did anyone call you?

I would think that if you are flying Air France, the flight time they are telling you is the one you should believe. Try calling again??

Hi 111op,
The flight is actually on Air France, but I made it through Delta using our Skymiles. The Air France site lists only a 9:15 pm flight but Delta still has us listed as leaving on Air France at 11:15 pm.

No,seetheworld, no one called us. I found out by accident when I called to book our return flight three months later. The operator just happened to mention our flight to CDG and when I corrected her she said it had been changed. I still wouldn't know to this day. No email, no call, nothing.

I think I'm going to have to call Air France again. There are two earlier connecting flights from CDG to LHR. Do you think I have a chance of being put on either of these instead of having a 3 1/2 hr layover? Is it worth even asking since we booked using Skymiles?

I think I should try since our original flight was nonstop and they made the change to our flight not us.

Thank for the help,
Michele

Listen to Air France, since they are the operating carrier. Delta is no more important in this scenario than Joan at the travel agency would be.

Maybe I didn't make myself clear. Did you check the Delta link I gave you? Or maybe someone else can try that link and see what he/she finds?

It could be that Delta has some inconsistent information. What I'm trying to say is that I can't find an 11:15 pm flight listed on this part of Delta's website, so I'm guessing 9:15 pm is correct.

Of course, it's worth asking. Whenever I've booked with Delta for flights operated by Air France, if the times originally booked were changed by Delta, I've been able to get changed to a more preferable flight with no charge or penalty. Might be different when booking with Skymiles, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

According to the Air France website, your arriving and departing flights at CDG are both at Terminal 2E - even though there are two sections, the shortest (1 hour, 15 minutes) connection should be fine. And, all three connecting flights are priced the same, so, hopefully, Delta will move you to the departure of your choice.

Delta recently changed domestic direct flights I made to connecting flights. Then to top it all the return flight was late leaving and made us miss our connecting flight and there were no more that night to our destination. We had to spend an extra night and even had the privilege of getting to pay for it. I hope you can get another direct flight and have a great trip.

Hi Everyone,
An update:
I called Delta and although they couldn't get us on the earlier flight from CDG to LHR they did book us on an earlier flight from LAX to LHR with a one hour layover in Atlanta.

So we now will be arriving in London before our original arrival time when we had the nonstop LAX - LHR. Now if I can only get back the one night I canceled at our B&B in Chipping Campden all will be well.

Thanks again for the info and tips...Fodorites are the best!
Moral of the story: Never be afraid to ask!

Take care,
Michele

Michele, I'm glad everything worked out! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you on getting the night back at the B&B -- couldn't hurt.
