ATTN: AA Frequent Flyer.
Last year you had posted about a special fare to Dublin with AA. Thanks to you I was to travel to Dublin and on to London to visit family while maintaining my Platinum status. I am a few mile shor this year and would like to keep the status if possible, are any deals or specials with AA you can recommend? Thnaks.
PS I need about 10,00 mile and I will travel from Florida or Toronto, Canada.

This may happen again so just keep your eyes on Dublin and/or Shannon.
I did have to buy a separate ticket from TPA to ORD for $178 (all in), so not as sweet of a deal as last year, still, a nice mileage run and in business class...

Keep your eyes on Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. In the fall you should be able to find fares for ~$250 all in. Obviously, you would need 2 to get 10K qualifying miles.
I will post if I see anything good.
Good luck!
PS. AA has in the past, about 3 years in a row now, offered a buy in to keep your current status. This was only true for Golds and Platinums. No buy in for Executive Platinums. Platinum was sold for ~$600 if you had at least 40K miles (I think, but I'm not sure). The problem with this is that they don't announce the "buy in" until January, so if you are short and they don't offer it, well.... you get the point(basically you are screwed). Also, it's a one time deal only. You can't do it every year.
and remember, AA does a soft landing, so if you don't requlify, you will still be Gold next year.

You could try the Mileage Run forum at flyertalk.com Saw a post about a $399 LAX-SCL fare (not good for you but interesting as I was considering taking a challenge) and some other excellent fares. You might find some good ideas.
