2-Part question regarding using AA trip credits
We have about $800 in AA trip credits that are expiring in July. We are currently in Bordeaux on a long stay visa. I want to use the credits for European flights.
1.). When I go to AA I am unable to see any flights that originate in Europe. What am I doing wrong?
2.) as they are expiring soon, if I book a flight and then find I am unable to use them, will AA issue new trip credits with a new expiration date?
it feels like forever since I booked anything complicated on AA - but I can’t make any flights come up that originate in BOD. Both BA and Iberia have flights here.

I pretended to book a one way flight from BOD to my home city and it worked right away. I think it's best to call AA. The most accurate info will come from the source. I hope you'll post back, I'm anxious to hear what you discovered.

Basically, you can only book flights operated by AA or codeshares carrying AA flight numbers. If your trip is wholly in Europe operated by a partner like BA or IB, it won't carry an AA flight number unless you're directly connecting to or from an AA operated flight.

From experience, the expiration date of the credits will not change just by booking a new flight and canceling it. My experience was with United but I bet the same terms. It makes sense when you think about it, or it would be easy to game the system.

I’ve heard both - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
