Magic Safaris?
I have been searching for several years for the right trip to East Africa and recently found an option for a camping safari that would allow me to go to Uganda / Rwanda and trek with the Mountain Gorillas plus see a lot of other things in Uganda for a very reasonable price. Has anyone heard of Magic Safaris (www.magic-safarais.com)?

Yes. Somewhere, I heard a reference to Rainbow Tours in conjunction with Magic Safaris and wrote Rainbow Tours this morning (they are in the UK) and asked what they knew about Magic Safaris in conjuction with Gorilla trekking in Uganda. They wrote back "Magic Safaris are an excellent outfit and we use them a lot for these tours.. " Rainbow Tours also suggested I book directly with them but I said I had been working with Magic Safaris directly and would not want to change that at this point. Additionally I am in the US and probably not what they are used to booking. They agreed that I should continue working with Magic Safaris directly. So far, I have been very favorably impressed with the timeliness and completeness of the replies to my inquiries from Magic Safaris. They have suggested an itinerary and tentative air arrangements and I am quite excited about the possibility of going with them in December. I will write again if I find any concerns or issues and would appreciate it if anyone else has any comments. I will also write when I return and provide a trip summary. I still think I have their web site address wrong. I think it is actually http://www.magic-safaris.com.

No personal experience. Another Fodorite emailed me this about 2 years ago: When researching a Uganda trip, he was interested in Magic. The company could never come up with a reference for him, though, so decided against them.

hi i'll jump in here-its been awhile for me.
a few yrs back i was in contact with magic for almost 2rs emailing back and forth! i wanted to go to rwanda with them at the time. well guess what-they wouldnt give me any refs!!!!! they wouldnt even mail the clients or call them to ask them if its ok for me to contact them.or they contact me.
they were pretty adament about it.
so i said fine screw you-i went with great lakes instead.
glad i did too.imagine-we have to wire money over there and they wouldnt give me any refs.i went with great lakes 2 times.
for what ever its worth-that was my take on it at that time.
