First trip to Johannesburg - Hotel Recommendation Please

Making my first trip (business) to Johannesburg in November. Am considering the Hyatt Regency or the Intercontinental. Can anybody recommend one over the other, or is one location better than the other for tourist stuff? Any other recommendations?

Johannesburg is not always the easiest/quickest place to get around, so it's a good idea to stay near the places where you'll need to go for work: the IC is in Sandton, the Hyatt in Rosebank.

I've stayed at the Hyatt Regency in Rosebank and the Hilton in Sandton, both in good locations and convenient for getting to Sandton shopping centre where there are restaurants. There are some within walking distance of the Hyatt and there was a little market behind the hotel. Food was great in the hotel. Didn't do much walking though, unless very close and in daylight.

Thanks, I went ahead and booked the Hyatt. I'll try to post my impressions when I return.

Haven't been on Fodors for awhile and wanted to follow up. Loved Johannesburg, but was busy and didn't get to see as much of the city and surrounding areas as I would have liked. The Hyatt in Rosebank was excellent. Highly recommend it and the area where it's located, Rosebank, which is a suburb of Johannesburg, is very charming with a lot of shopping, cafes and nice neighborhoods. There is an African crafts market nearby where I could have spent a lot more time. It is adjacent to a mall that is a lot of fun by mall standards if shopping is your thing.

We have always stayed at the Intercontinental arriving from Europe. Very convenient, good decoration and first rate concierge service
