I have booked Hyatt Regency Mccormick Place, which in Martin Luther King Drive for my trip to Chicago.
Is it a nice hotel?? )i read some bad reviews on it later really concerned about it.
Also how close is it to all the tourist spots like the Navy Pier, Sears towers etc??

McCormick Place is a bit too removed from what I'm guessing you would like to visit for the location to be walking distance. Can you switch to the Hyatt on East Wacker or the Hyatt at The Water Tower? Both are a little more conducive to sight seeing.

Even if you are attending a convention at McCormick Center, they have shuttles that travel to these hotels.

McCormick Place is a loong way from most of the attractions you'll be interested in.
The Hyatt is a huge business hotel. I was there for a convention 2 months ago. The hotel is rather impersonal, just too big to offer anything more than predictable room quality and necessary services.
If you got a really cheap rate, it'll be fine. Many weekends the hotel is quiet and they discount rates.
If you didn't get a steep discount you'd be better served by staying farther north near the center of the tourist scene.

Unfortunately, i got the deal from Priceline at a good rate. but thanks for your response . i will mentally prepare myself to travel some distance to see what i want.

I stayed there for a convention once and loved it--but would only stay there if I had to put in long hours at McCormick Place. For a convention, it's great not to have to schlep stuff back and forth (especially in winter)--you can just run up to the room to get what you need or give yourself a short break.
Otherwise, there really is no point to staying there.

Please let me put your fears at rest. We stayed at Hyatt McCormick a few weeks ago and they have a shuttle that leaves every hour on the hour for Navy Pier and Michigan Ave. You get in the Van and the driver asks where everyone is going and he then makes the appropriate stops. Ask for a room on the upper floors facing downtown Chicago. A beautiful view of downtown and the lake! They have a breakfast buffet each morning. Continental 6.95 or full 12.95 per person. Our blanket on our bed was not clean, and the headboard of our bed was gross(body fluid from a previous guest) We complained, they sent housekeeping up right away and the manager sent up two bottles of wine. Our daughter's purse was stolen the next morning in the dining room (it was retrieved by a chase thru the dining area by her husband, a neighboring table guest, and my husband) They gave us all a free breakfast. We do have memories of that Chicago weekend! You will have a great time. The fact that the shuttle will take you into areas you want to visit is a blessing but you will have to take a cab back...It is too far to walk.

The bottom line is....
even thro our bedroom blanlet and headboard was gross, it was taken care of. Even thro our daughters purse was stolen, it all turned out ok, as it was retrived. The hotel took responibility and we appreciated their concern.

If this is true cd, NO ONE should ever book a room in that hotel! None of this should have ever happened! What do you mean it's all right because it was fixed? Just because they caught the crook or gave you wine for a filthy gross room doesn't "fix" what happened! It SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED to begin with. If it did, then maybe, just maybe, none of us should go there. Those are damning statements about that hotel.

Now, it's beside the point, but would you please hazard a guess as to how someone got "bodily fluids" on the headboard? Headboard, think about it - that's an awkward postion or some darned verile guy. Common girl, something is squirrely here. Reading what you wrote, I for sure will NEVER book at room there and why would ANYONE else? "Fixed" doesn't make it right.
