Baggage for Airlink and AndBeyond?
Does anyone know whether or not I will have problems with carryon-size rollaboards on Airlink flights (Cape Town-Skukuza, Nelspruit-Livingstone, Kasane-Johannesburg)? What about vehicle transfers to and from Kirkman's Kamp and Chobe Under Canvass? Apologies if the question is already asked somewhere else as I am having trouble finding it. Thanks.

SAA Airlink flights have very limited size overhead lockers. I haven't flown JHB-Kasane but I've flown to Maun several times and I'm assuming the planes are the same. "Carry on size" rollaboards can vary a lot in size, but if it's the largest type that is OK on a long haul flight, then you won't be able to take it as carry on on the SAA Airlink flight. It will have to be checked.

Stokeygirl, thank you. I have not have any problems on U.S. domestic flights operated by Boeing 737s or Airbus A320s although it is near the size limit for those overhead spaces if that's helpful additional information.

I would say the baggage compartments are smaller than a 737 or A320. Especially in the middle of the plane over the wing where they reduce in size to half height- and this means people in those seats (I think 4-6 rows) are putting their bags in the lockers further forward or back. Will your bag fit under the seat in front? On my last flight back from Maun I had to put my hand luggage under the seat in front as there was no space left in the overhead lockers.
Here is their fleet-

I think it's the AVRO RJ 85 on the Johannesburg to Maun route.
I wouldn't count on being able to travel with carry on only.

Anyone with advice about baggage restrictions on transport vehicles from Kirkman's Kamp and Chobe Under Canvas? I've asked AndBeyond directly but the guidance isn't clear. Thought I may get a better answer here from someone with experience with the two properties. Thanks.

We just did 2 flights on airlink, they let you have carry on and then end up gate/plane check it (as you go up the stairs). Only small bags (think backpack size - not crammed full) will fit. We did JNB to neslspriut , nelspruit to Livingston, and Kasane to JNB.
You will need $50 U.S. Cash each for Visa in Livingston. (U.S. $ is currency in Zimbabwe, FYI. )
