Manchester

Manchester

Well-to-do Manchester has been a popular summer retreat since the mid-19th century when city dwellers traveled north to take in the cool clean air at the foot of 3,816-foot Mt. Equinox. Manchester Village's tree-shaded marble sidewalks and stately old homes—Main Street here could hardly be more picture perfect—reflect the luxurious resort lifestyle of more than a century ago. A mile north on 7A, Manchester Center is the commercial twin to colonial Manchester Village. This is where you'll find the town's famed upscale factory outlets doing business in attractive faux-colonial shops. If you're coming here from Arlington, take scenic Route 7A.
