Once a stop on a turn-of-the-20th-century stagecoach route, this venerable inn is still an oasis for weary travelers. Everything is crisp and colorful here, from the floral comforters and wallpapers to freshly painted walls and bright carpeting. Some rooms have balconies, fireplaces, and hot tubs. With a great location smack-dab in the center of town, you may not have to leave your room to hear the sounds of the weekly town-band concerts. The restaurant serves reliable contemporary American fare and a very good Sunday brunch. Guests staying in the spring and fall seasons can enjoy a complimentary continental breakfast with their room rate. Pros: Right in the center of town, many amenities and services, spacious and efficient rooms. Cons: Not for those seeking authentic historic lodging—more of an upscale feel than an old inn, no water views or beachfront.
