After a full-scale renovation completed in 2010, this 1839 former sea captain's home shines anew in the simple beauty of 19th-century craftsmanship in gleaming wide-plank floors, and graceful molding and wainscoting. Original old maps dating from the home's era are framed in the dining room, and aside from the addition of carefully chosen antiques and artwork, the inn is refreshingly uncluttered. There is a serene, spa-like feeling here, and several rooms have working fireplaces to add to the high level of comfort. Bountiful breakfasts are served on the enclosed porch. This inn is truly the embodiment of understated elegance.
