The dining component at the action-packed Crown & Anchor gay resort, Central House serves commendable contemporary American fare, such as pomegranate-honey-glazed chicken with grilled pineapple relish; and pan-roasted scallops with grits, buttered baby carrots, and snap-pea salad. Several lighter options are offered, too, including three kinds of mac-and-cheese. For breakfast, you might try the lobster Benedict or French toast topped with Vermont syrup, sweet butter, and powdered sugar. Apart from the good food, this is one of the best venues in town for socializing and observing the assorted merry-makers who frequent the resort's many bars.
