The Garlands Review

Old Wharf Road in Dennisport is lined with strip motels and cottage colonies, but few places provide comfort and views to match this bi-level motel-style complex. There are 20 units in all; 18 are two-bedroom suites. Each unit has a fully equipped kitchen, private sundeck or patio, and daily maid service. The oceanfront VIP suites, simply named A and B (two bedrooms) and C and D (one bedroom), are the best picks here—the nearly floor-to-ceiling windows offer unobstructed water views; at high tide you're almost in the surf.

    Hotel Amenities

  • Beach, some age restrictions.
  • Rooms have: no a/c, kitchen.
  • No credit cards.
  • Closed mid-Oct.-mid-Apr.

I was traveling with a friend. We booked room A on the advice of Fodor's book. We were very disappointed. Cramped, dingy, dirty, ill-maintained, constant damp, musty smell, uncomfortable, hard, lumpy beds, kitchen and bath were old, not filthy, but not inviting either. This place has potential but needs serious updating. I would not recommend The Garlands if looking for comfort and cleanliness. The best thing about The Garlands is the lovely ocean view and beach. The rates do not reflect the quality of accommodations being offered.
