Captain Linnell House

Captain Linnell House Review

Sea captain Eben Linnell built this stunning mansion in the 1850s, basing its design on a neoclassical villa he'd once visited in the South of France. Linnell's masterpiece now contains one of the Cape's most esteemed formal restaurants, a longtime favorite for celebrating special occasions. A competent and polite staff serves continental cuisine, which is consistently superb. The kitchen tends to stick with tried-and-true classics, such as herb-and-mustard-crusted rack of lamb with a pinot-noir reduction, and grilled Black Angus steak au poivre with a zinfandel-peppercorn sauce. Considering the fine ingredients and opulent surroundings, it's an excellent value.
