Don't let the "country club" bit fool you, this is nothing like the snooty courses on the Kohala coast. First off, the green fees are way lower; second, the course is well maintained but not overly manicured; and third, there are rarely crowds so play is continuous and moves quickly. The course itself is reasonably challenging -- an 18-hole, par 72 course -- but the real draws are the views and the location. It might be the only course in the world built on an active volcano (Kilauea), with views of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, as well as frequent hawk, wild turkey, and nene sightings. The small golf course restaurant also serves a great (and cheap) breakfast or lunch.
