Fodor's Review:

Students, union workers, and immigrants (who account for 15% of Vesterbro's population) inhabit this area. It's a great place to find ethnic groceries, discount shops, and cheap international restaurants. The face of Vesterbro, however, has been gentrified. Due to the city's ongoing urban-renewal and clean-up efforts, the spruced-up Vesterbro is attracting chic eateries, stores, and clubs, along with their arty customers. In the center of it all, a new café square, Halmtorvet, has been constructed. An area where you might not normally go has become a must-go spot to see the latest trends. Nightclubs like headline-grabbing Vega, Ideal Bar, and Byens Lys-Cafe PH have opened, as have the restaurants Carlton and Apropos. The area's best clothing shops, such as Hubsch, Don Ya Doll, Gurlie Hurly, and Designer Zoo are at the western end of Istedgade.
